Cover reveal: No Matter the Distance

Representation is important, especially when it’s own voices representation. I’ve always been an avid reader, but growing up I never saw characters with cystic fibrosis. I would have loved to see characters living with the same disease I have! Now that I’m a first time mom, I know I want my daughters to have books that help them understand what it was like for me to grow up with cystic fibrosis.

That’s why I’m so excited to share the cover reveal for @CindyBaldwinBooks new release from @HarperKids! No Matter the Distance is the first #OwnVoices novel about cystic fibrosis and it will release in February 2023! Read on for synopsis! 💜 Kellisa

Synopsis: When Penny Rooney is assigned to write a poem about herself, she has no idea where to begin. Everyone around her seems to know who they are deep inside, but Penny feels like an unwritten story.

Then one day, while swimming in the creek behind their house, Penny and her sister spot something impossible: a dolphin, far from its saltwater home. Penny connects immediately with the dolphin, who she names Rose. It turns out Rose is sick—she has a lung infection, just like the infections Penny gets because of her cystic fibrosis.

When Penny's CF spirals out of control, she takes solace in her bond with Rose… but Penny might be the only one who can get the dolphin home. Can Penny use their inexplicable connection to guide Rose back to her pod, even if it means losing her new friend?
