Review: My Fake Rake
When Katie and I started our Instagram account in August 2018 (almost two years ago!) we planned to do ALL the buddy reads together. I think since then weβve done maybe a handful? And the ones we have done we havenβt actually read them at the same time π Somehow when we read My Fake Rake we actually read it together! Almost at the same time! And we both loved it π₯°
Hereβs some of the things that made My Fake Rake a five star πππππ read for us:
π€ Itβs the perfect Historical Romance for the reader who isnβt positive if theyβd like historical. The writing was super clever in making the characters progressive while remaining period accurate! ππ»
π Excellent friends-to-lovers plot! It was delightful to watch these two realize they loved each other. Even if it did take them a hot minute and there was a bit of miscommunication involved. It was worth it in the end!
π I loved how nerdy both of the characters were about their careers and that both Grace and Sebastian were in STEM fields. The academic library as a background setting was so great π
π€ Very realistic portrayal of severe social anxiety! I related to this SO MUCH! Itβs not often you get a HR hero with this type of social obstacle. Itβs done super well, remaining fairy light hearted without being super angsty π
π€ STEAM!!! No closed doors here! While it might take some time to get there, it is SO WORTH THE WAIT! π₯π₯π₯
π Fantastic side characters, the Union of Rakes men and their friendship is so good. Really enjoyed how this book introduced their childhood backgrounds too. We canβt wait for Rotherby to get his HEA π₯
Overall, we loved it and highly recommend trying My Fake Rake! #ksquaredreads approved! π―ββοΈ
